Local Codex control. Bounded runs. Recoverable results.
AegisLoop adds explicit run controls, crash recovery, result acknowledgements, and local audit logs around Codex. Use the local workspace console directly, or bind one ChatGPT conversation to one local Codex session through the optional browser extension.
Codex is available directly in ChatGPT, the desktop app, editors, and the terminal. AegisLoop does not replace those surfaces. It is for users who want bounded local runs with an inspectable execution route and explicit recovery controls.
AegisLoop is a personal automation bridge. It is not an official OpenAI product.
Quick Demo
Local Console
Browser Extension
Move or minimize the panel without changing the execution route. Minimized mode retains status and Pause; minimizing alone does not stop automation.
Captured from v0.3.25 in real Chrome using synthetic test data. These images show the shipped UI, not a live model run. No private conversation or credentials are included.
Help Test AegisLoop
You can help without writing code. The most useful reports are small browser / model compatibility checks that take about 5-10 minutes.
- Pick one path: Windows, macOS, Chrome, Edge, Brave, Chinese UI, or one ChatGPT model mode.
- Run the short smoke steps in docs/tester-guide.md.
- Paste a sanitized report in the matching GitHub issue.
Please do not include real conversation IDs, tokens, local private paths, private workspace names, or private project content.
Choose Your Route
| Route | Best fit | Execution identity |
|---|---|---|
Local console (npm run open:ui) |
Inspect a task, run a bounded loop, recover a pending result | Configured local Codex session |
| Chrome extension | Let a ChatGPT conversation produce visible next-step instructions | One conversation bound to one local session |
| Built-in Codex | Native chat, tools, approvals, and agent workflows | Managed by Codex; separate from the AegisLoop route |
GPT-6 Astra, Sol, and Luna are now included in the model smoke targets. Model selection does not change AegisLoop's conversation binding. This is not a claim that every logged-in ChatGPT model has passed live testing: see model compatibility and positioning and alternatives.
Current Focus: v0.3.25 Compact Panel and Draft Safety
| User concern | Current behavior |
|---|---|
| The overlay gets in the way | Move or minimize it; position survives reloads and controls stay inside the viewport. Compact mode keeps status and Pause visible. |
| Automation overwrites a draft | Existing and newly typed drafts are preserved. The extension does not blindly resend an unconfirmed message. |
| A request fails or the conversation changes | Failed replies and stale route responses cannot pretend a control succeeded in the current panel. |
The shipped content script is exercised in a real-browser fixture in CI, including narrow-window layouts and result delivery. This is synthetic browser testing, not certification of every live ChatGPT model. See v0.3.25 release notes for the changes and verification scope.
